How to Request Cap America Hat Mockups

Used to submit a hat mockup request to CapAmerica for client review, and to set the approved mockup up for on-demand ordering. Follow this guide to find the right hat style on CapAmerica.com, request a mockup from your CapAmerica contacts, gather client feedback, and (if needed) add the finished design as an on-demand item.

Watch the tutorial: How to Request CapAmerica Hat Mockups

What You'll Need Before You Start

1. The hat style number and color. Find the specific hat on CapAmerica.com and confirm the style number (e.g., i8503) and selected color for the program.

2. Logo file(s). A PNG works fine — logos do not need to be vectorized.

3. Program and client details. Know the program name and who the mockup is for so it can be referenced in your request.

4. Placement details. Decide on logo placement (one, two, or multiple locations) and logo size ahead of time.

Requesting a Mockup from CapAmerica

  1. Find the hat. Go to CapAmerica.com and search for the specific hat style needed for the program. Confirm the color is set correctly, then copy the link to that exact hat and color.
  2. Email your CapAmerica contacts. Send a new email to CapAmerica's two points of contact, Naz and Desiree.
  3. Include the key details. In the email, note the program name and who the mockup is for, and include:
  • The hat link (with color specified)
  • Which logo to use, and any placement instructions (one, two, or multiple placements)
  • Logo size, if specific
  • Any other relevant instructions for the mockup
  1. Attach the logo(s). A PNG file is fine — vectorized files are not required.

Mockups typically take 2–3 business days to come back. The response may come from a different CapAmerica sales representative than Naz or Desiree — don't be surprised if someone new replies with the mockup.

Reviewing the Mockup and Requesting Revisions

CapAmerica will send the mockup back as a PDF. Download it and send it to the client for review, the same way you'd share a ZiFlow link.

If the client wants changes — a different logo, an additional style to compare, etc. — reply directly to the CapAmerica rep's email with the requested adjustments (e.g., a new logo attached, or a request to see a second style). They'll return an updated mockup for another round of review.

Sellout Samples

Once a mockup is approved, CapAmerica automatically sends a sellout sample. Provide them with the specific address the sample should ship to (this can be your own address or the company's, depending on the situation).

Setting Up the Hat for On-Demand Ordering

If the hat needs to be available for on-demand ordering, set it up as you would when adding an off-menu item to an existing ticket:

  1. Create a new custom task / custom apparel collection.
  2. Attach the approved CapAmerica mockup PDF(s).
  3. Create SKUs using the standard SKU nomenclature, based on the hat's style number (e.g., i8503).
  4. Design will use the mockup and SKUs to create the matching proof for the item.

Once that's complete, the item can be added to a package and ordered on-demand — it's ordered the same way as other post-production decoration items through the platform.

Best Practices

  • Always include the program name and who the mockup is for in your initial CapAmerica email — it keeps requests easy to track on both ends.
  • Give CapAmerica complete placement and sizing instructions upfront to reduce revision rounds.
  • Keep in mind a mockup may come back from a different rep than who you initially emailed.
  • Confirm the correct shipping address before CapAmerica sends the sellout sample.
  • Follow the standard SKU nomenclature (based on style number) when setting hats up for on-demand ordering.
