v1.0 — Getting Started Overview

Technical Sketch | 2Ds | Phase 1

Last Updated: May 6, 2026

SETUP & BASE CONSTRUCTION

Overview

In this video, you will learn the full 2D process for setting up client-facing artboard sheets. The walkthrough explains where the 3D files are stored, how the handoff works from the “Masters Transition ReadyForDan” folder, and how to create 2D versions from a given filename, such as “0000-2D - Style_Name v1.”

You will also see how the folder tracker is organized, including how to read and update the “Setup 2Ds,” “Status 3Ds,” and “1Ds” stages. Finally, the video teaches you a clear file-naming system that uses style number, process, gender, line type, and style name so that every asset is easy to find and understand.

STEP-by-STep guide

1. Identify where the handoff file lives 0:00

  • The goal of this Loom is to show how to set up the 2D process for client-facing artboard sheets.

  • First, determine where you are starting from:

    • Migrating an old master to a new master, or

    • Pulling from the line folder / master folder.

  • The key idea is that the file you need to work from has already been handed off, and you need to locate the correct source file before creating the 2D version.

2. Understand the folder structure and handoff flow 0:29

  • The 3D files should already be set up for you.

  • In the current workflow, the 3D files are not living in the working folder you are editing from.

  • Instead, the handoff file is found in the Master’s Transition / ReadyForDan folder.

  • In the future, this ReadyForDan folder will effectively function as the 3D folder.

  • The process is about locating the correct file in the handoff area, then copying it into the 2D workflow.

3. Locate the correct style in the tracker 3:28

  • Open the tracker and find the style you are responsible for.

  • The tracker includes sections for:

    • Setup

    • 2Ds

    • 1Ds

    • 3Ds

  • Focus only on the row/chart that has your name on it.

  • Check the status columns to understand what is already done and what still needs work:

    • Done

    • In progress

    • Not started

    • Migrated

  • The example shown is for the base style being worked through the 2D setup process.

4. Copy the handed-off file into the 2D folder 8:03

  • Once you have identified the handed-off file, grab it from the ReadyForDan / 3D source location.

  • Navigate to the appropriate style folder, such as:

    • Player line

    • 1000 / 1003 style folder

  • Open the 2D folder.

  • Copy the source file into the 2D folder.

  • This becomes the starting point for the 2D version.

5. Rename the file using the 2D versioning convention 8:57

generated-image-at-00:08:57

  • Rename the copied file to follow the 2D naming convention.

  • The example naming structure includes:

    • Style number

    • Process: 2D

    • Gender / line type

    • Style name

    • Version number

  • Example format mentioned in the Loom:

    • 1003-2D - Men's Player Reversible Pinnie v1.0

  • The important part is that the file clearly shows it is the 2D version and includes the correct version number.

6. Continue versioning and prepare for the next handoff 2:22

generated-image-at-00:02:22

  • The first 2D file should be labeled as V1.

  • Future updates will create additional versions as needed.

  • The process is designed so that each version can be tracked cleanly as the file moves through the workflow.

  • Once the 2D file is set up correctly, it is ready for the next version-up step and eventual handoff.

7. Summary of the workflow 3:13

generated-image-at-00:03:13

  • Find the correct source file in the handoff folder.

  • Confirm the style in the tracker and verify your responsibility.

  • Copy the file into the 2D folder.

  • Rename it using the standard 2D + style + version naming convention.

  • Use the tracker to monitor setup, 2D, 1D, and 3D status across the workflow.

  • This Loom is mainly an overview of where everything lives and how to get started with 2D setup.
