Purpose
This training provides a clear, step‑by‑step method for building clean, professional 2D technical sketches. Throughout the lessons, you will learn how to:
-
Construct 2D sketches that are accurate enough for client presentations and internal reviews.
-
Organize layers so the artwork is easy to understand, edit, and hand off.
-
Connect the 3D artboards to the final 1D production files, so all versions stay visually aligned.
-
Maintain Locker’s quality and visual standards at each stage of the process.
By the end of this training, you should understand how 2D sketches function as the bridge between 3D design work and 1D production files, and how to build them in a way that supports reliable, repeatable workflows.
Total Training Time
Approximately 1 hour 44 minutes (9 videos)
PHASE 1: SETUP & BASE CONSTRUCTION
PHASE 2: LINE ART, Shadows & Threads
PHASE 3: TRIM & SYMBOL INTEGRATION
PHASE 4: FINAL EXPORT & HANDOFF
Key Takeaways
-
Phase 1 (Base Color Panel) is your foundation. When this phase is accurate and clean, it prevents rework and troubleshooting later in the process.
-
Phase 3 (Symbol Replacement) is essential for maintaining consistency with the 3D master file. Treat this step as a quality check to ensure the 2D sketch truly matches the 3D standard.
-
Throughout all phases, follow the layer structure exactly as shown. A consistent layer order is what makes handoffs to Elena and Klara (1Ds) smooth, predictable, and easy to troubleshoot.
Recommended actions after completing this training:
-
Watch all training videos in order, moving phase by phase so each step builds on the last.
-
Apply what you learned by completing one full 2D technical sketch using the most recent 3D handoff file.
-
Share your progress by posting in #locker-design-master-team in the TRAINING »»» 1D thread, tagging Elena or Klara and cc E.A., so the 1D team can review your work and provide next steps.
